| Colour Therapy I am delighted to be joining Medicalternative and to be able to offer clients several colour related therapies and consultations. I have been practising colour therapy, Aura-Soma consultations, chakra balancing for several years now, and am continually amazed at the effect colour has on our lives. I qualified in colour therapy at the Iris International School of Colour Therapy, trained by Suzi Chiazzari, a renowned colour therapist and author. I qualified in Aura-Soma consultation with A.S.I.A.C.T. I am currently studying colour acupuncture, which involves the use of beams of coloured light being focused on acupuncture points, rather than needles. I have always been interested in anything to do with complementary and vibrational medicine, and after taking a course at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art, Dundee in interior and environmental design, I realised it was the colour side of the subject that I was actually most interested in. This led me to colour therapy, so that I could discover more about this fascinating subject. Many people asked me if colour therapy was telling you what colours suited them, and after explaining that it wasn't, I decided to actually train in that part of colour as well, and qualified with Colour Me Beautiful as a colour and make-up consultant. I am an external examiner for The Iris International school of Colour Therapy, and am a full member of both Colour International, and ASIACT. To find out more about what I do, you can check out my website at www.indigosilk.co.uk What is Colour Therapy? To feel good and look good we need a balance of colours in our system. This relies on us receiving a good dose of full spectrum light daily. This balance can be easily upset by factors such as bad lighting, pollution, bad diet, tinted windows, sunglasses, indoor living and stress. Imbalances can result in symptoms such as lethargy, depression, mood swings, feelings of inadequacy, lack of self esteem, minor illness, chronic ailments and a general feeling of being out of control. If those symptoms are allowed to go uncorrected, the body can then "shout louder" by turning warning ailments into much more serious conditions such as cancer, heart disease, or strokes. These little niggles are our body's way of telling us we need to change our lifestyle and change our thought patterns. A colour therapist can help to pinpoint and correct any imbalance using different methods. These may include light therapy, colour acupuncture, art therapy, crystal therapy, coloured silks, essential oils, sound therapy, diet and drinking solarised water. Colour can be used as an aid to counselling, helping the client to discover the root of emotional problems, and to support them while they work through challenges and can start to feel better about themselves. Colour therapy helps the client to find out what is going on with them emotionally, mentally, physically and spiritually, simply by the colours they are attracted to, or the colours they dislike. We are actually the colours that we choose! You may choose a colour because this is the energy you are giving out to the world, or because you need that colour energy. The colours we wear, surround ourselves with, visualise, and even eat and drink, all effect our moods, mental capacity and physical body. Colour therapy can teach us how each colour effects us and how we can use this knowledge to our advantage. What can I expect? During the initial session, Jilly will take your medical history, talk about the reasons you chose colour therapy and what you would like to achieve. She will then ask you to choose from a set of coloured cards. From this selection, she will be able to begin to assess personality traits, outer and inner, strengths, weaknesses, talents and challenges the client is presently facing. She will be able to see which colours are out of balance in the client's system and then use this knowledge to counsel them further, allowing the client to gently find the reason behind those imbalances, and possible routes out. Jilly will use pendulum dowsing and her intuition, to check the chakras, or energy centres, in the client's body to see if they are working efficiently. After ascertaining which are working and which are closed or sluggish, she will start to use corrective methods to rebalance the chakras, so allowing blockages to be moved, and the client's own healing system to be kick started. The client may have coloured silks laid on them, be asked to visualise colours in certain areas of their body, or may have crystals laid on them, while they then relax and absorb the corrective colour vibrations, so allowing their own healing systems to start. The client will learn techniques which they can try at home to help their healing process, and they will be asked to return at a later date, so that their progress can be assessed, and more advanced work can be done, so that gradually they will be able to change their way of thinking, and so allow healing. Advanced work may involve deeper counselling, art therapy, polarity readings, Aura-Soma therapy, or further crystal, silk or visualisation work. Jilly generally allows the client to use their intuition as to what they feel is the best method for them as an individual. Jilly uses many techniques from a broad range of therapies and holistic beliefs. She is a firm believer that if we follow our heart's greatest desires, we will be guided onto our true path in life, and doors of opportunity will be opened up for us. We are all here with a specific mission, and once we can pinpoint this mission, and truly start to work at it, the world is our oyster. It's only a case of reaching out and taking what you want from life! | ||||||||||||||||||
