I have been practicing Bowen Therapy since I qualified in June 1999 and I am also an accredited instructor.

I work in Edinburgh, at Medicalternative and also from my Clinic in Kelso and my hometown of Peebles offering Bowen Therapy, Bio-feedback MOT treatments and the Body Detox Machine.

What is Bowen Therapy?

Bowen Therapy originated in Australia. It is still relatively new to Scotland but its popularity grows daily due to the astonishing effect it has on activating the body's own healing ability.

A treatment lasts approximately 45 minutes and consists of a series of light manipulative moves over muscles, tendons and ligaments. The 'moves' encourage deep relaxation and also bring to the body's awareness of there being too much tension in an area. The body is able to process the information and make relevant adjustments over the next few days. A bit like pressing the re-set button, the body can release the muscle/tissue tension and correct itself from a wide variety of ailments.

Treatment can be done through light clothing, is gentle and non-invasive and is suitable for all ages, from the newborn to the very elderly.

Can Bowen Therapy help me?

Bowen Therapy does not replace medical care or advice but compliments it. Some conditions that have responded well to this therapy are:

  • Back Pain and Sciatica
  • Leg length abnormalities
  • Neck & shoulder restriction
  • Knee & ankle problems
  • Sports Injuries
  • RSI (tennis & golfers elbow)
  • Migraine and headaches
