Counselling
Counselling is a way of addressing problems by talking them through with someone who is able to be supportive, but who is not directly involved in the situation. Counselling is a process that allows you to explore any difficulties or specific problems you are having in any aspect of your life, including your relationships with others, your behaviour or your general outlook on life.
During the process of counselling you learn a new set of tools which allow a greater knowledge of the self and thus help you to make more effective choices as you respond to situations in your life.
How Does It Work?
A key element of the counselling approach is the relationship of trust that builds up between a patient and their counsellor. This allows difficult, bottled-up and repressed feelings to be discussed and expressed. It also allows you to see things from a different perspective and explore options for changing things for the better.
How We Can Help?
Counselling can help with a variety of life issues such as anxiety and depression, relationships, stress, bereavement and loss and low self-esteem.
When You Visit Us
- Your expert counsellor will see you in a private and totally confidential environment and listen and talk to you about whatever is troubling you. She will help you to express your feelings, understand the problems you are facing and help you to find ways to move forward positively with your life.
- Your counsellor will adapt her approach to meet your needs, however, whatever specific approach she uses, the overall aim will be to help you to make positive choices about your future and to put them into action.
- You will normally need to undertake a course of counselling; this usually involves weekly or fortnightly sessions. The number of sessions you will need will depend upon the problems you are dealing with and the extent to which you wish to explore and resolve them – overall treatment time can vary from six weeks to six months.
