POOR SPELLING, poor short term memory?
Slightly CLUMSY, poor organisation?
Slow, MESSY HANDWRITING?
Poor social interaction and likes routine?
POOR CONCENTRATION, fidgety?
    it might be DYSLEXIA
it might be DYSPRAXIA
it might be DYSGRAPHIA
it might be ASPERGER'S
it might be ADD/ADHD

It is now recognised that these difficulties:

  • Have a medical cause
  • Co-exist
  • Have nothing to do with IQ or parenting
  • Can be helped
As a parent you know that your child is having a tough time / under performing at school but the reason why can be hard to find and the help available poor.
I CAN HELP TO ASSESS THE DIFFICULTY AND CAN ADVISE INDEPENDANTLY ON TREATMENT OPTIONS.

I studied Medicine at The Royal Free Hospital, London University and qualified as a doctor in 1975 (MRCS). I initially worked in General Practice spending some time in Canada. I stopped work when I had my three children returning to re-train in Community Paediatrics and now work part- time as a school doctor. Having two dyslexic children I became extremely interested in dyslexia and similar conditions and was involved in opening the DDAT Centre in Edinburgh. I no longer have any involvement with DDAT/Dore

I also have a website used by many schools in many parts of the world in which I advise on difficulties experienced by children in school.
www.schooldoctor.co.uk

I have experience in Dyslexia, Dyspraxia, ADHD - Attention deficit disorder with or without hyperactivity, Asperger's Syndrome, and similar difficulties. It is increasingly recognised that there is a medical basis for these disorders but it can be very difficult to find a doctor who works in this area. In the UK different conditions are dealt with by different specialists. It can be hard to find a doctor with experience and interest in them all.

Many adults had a hard time at school and may continue to struggle afterwards. The problem may be one of these conditions that has never been diagnosed. It is never too late to get help.
