Macrolane™ VRF became ready for commercialisation at the end of 2007. The Macrolane VRF may be used to gracefully fill out many different areas of the body quickly, simply and with minimum discomfort. It is based on Q-Med's patented technology, NASHA™, and gives immediate and long-lasting enhancement of relatively large body parts such as the breasts and the butocks. Sales approval of Macrolane VRF (Volume Restoration Factor) is for the European market. The product is used both to give volume and/or to smooth out defects over the whole body. This is called body shaping. Together with methods for reducing the volume of body parts it is anticipated that this will be a valuable addition to today's treatment alternatives. The manufacturers recommend that Macrolane treatments are carried out by fully trained and certified Doctors.

Body shaping with Macrolane means that the breasts, bottom and other body parts can be filled out to give a result that is natural. Macrolane can be used for breast augmentation and shaping of the décolletage, amongst other things, but also as a supplement after plastic surgery procedures such as breast operations and liposuction. Compared to facial aesthetic treatments with Restylane® where relatively small volumes of NASHA are used much greater volumes are involved in an average treatment with Macrolane. Here the gel is thicker and is injected deeper into the skin giving much greater lift to the surrounding tissue. For breast shaping treatments Macrolane is placed behind the breast tissue and for other body indications deep into the skin tissue which will lift the tissue in a natural way.
