On Sunday 26 March 2006, Scotland's smoking ban comes into force. From 6am it will be illegal to smoke anywhere indoors that is not a private home (except those with exemptions).

Whilst most people understand the law applies to social and recreational areas including pubs, restaurants, cinemas, public transport and any other indoor areas accessible to the public many do not realise the law also includes workplaces - fixed structures like office buildings and workshops and non-fixed structures such as lorries, vans and company cars.

Smoking Cessation

Smoking is a difficult addiction to quit due to all the different aspects of it. There is the very real physical dependency on nicotine, the social aspect of smoking and also some people smoke just to do something with their hands. We find that people who have support are much more likely to quit. We can offer nicotine replacement devices of all kinds, Zyban, which is a drug which aids smoking cessation, can be prescribed and we can give all sorts of hints and tips to make the experience of giving up smoking much easier. At the same time we can assess your lungs and monitor any smoking related problems which will hopefully improve once you yourself become a smoke-free zone.
